The Story behind the shot
Lying on the ground in the gardens of Schönbrunn Palace, Vienna, I had the pleasure of meeting this curious red squirrel up close. With one paw lifted, it studied me as intently as I studied it, embodying the very essence of squirrel curiosity. Squirrels are among my favorite subjects to photograph because of their natural inquisitiveness — they always seem to be so eager to explore and engage with their surroundings. This moment felt like a reminder of why I love wildlife photography: those genuine, unscripted encounters that spark a real connection with the creatures I capture.
